Prevention Education with Burke County Public Schools (BCPS)

Burke Recovery continues to have an active presence in the Burke County Public Schools.  Matikia Robinson, Community Prevention and Education Specialist, works with school administrators, guidance counselors and teachers to provide prevention, education and treatment services to students and their families.  She can be reached by email at or by phone at 828-217-6184

Services offered to BCPS Students:

-Student Assistance Program - individual counseling for at risk students. Our counselors rotate daily between Burke County middle and high schools to meet with students in need.

-School Intervention Program (ScIP) - afterschool group counseling for students who have violated school drug, alcohol, or tobacco policies.

-Support Groups- offered on a needs basis after school. Past groups have included a Girls Empowerment Group and Children of Alcoholics / Addicts.
